HOW MUCH DOES UNCLE ERNIE'S SYSTEM COST?

£25.00 at the start of the season, giving you the full benefits. If you subscribe late, then the price reduces accordingly. Mid-season it reduces to £16.50, and eventually down to £9.50 when the season only has a couple of months to run. You can pay by credit card, debit card or PayPal, by clicking on the Subscribe button below. The online payment system uses the most secure encryption and protection possible, and no details about you or your orders are EVER passed on to anyone else.

I'VE PAID FOR MY ORDER, BUT I HAVEN'T RECEIVED MY DOWNLOAD

As soon as you have successfully placed your order, you will see a confirmation screen from PayPal, who handles our orders. You must click on "Return to Merchant" and you'll gain access to the special download page for instant access to your own copy of the System. If you mess up the download, dont worry - just send an email to enquiries@uncle-ernie.net quoting your order reference and we'll email your copy straight back to you.

ARE THERE ANY EXTRAS TO PAY?

No. Once you have bought an edition of Uncle Ernie's System there are no additional fees to pay.

HOW OFTEN IS THE SYSTEM PUBLISHED & UPDATED?

Twice a year, before the start of each flat season, and jumps season. The price structure is the same for each edition.

WHO IS UNCLE ERNIE?

Uncle Ernie is the name used by the best-selling writer and broadcaster David Benedictus, the only tipster asked to produce and present a definitive BBC Radio series on horse-racing and betting for profit. In the early days, David assembled everything himself and even typed the manuscripts, but now the online team has made life easier for him and for you.

WHO VERIFIES THE RESULTS YOU PUBLISH ON THIS WEBSITE?

The weekly results are supplied to us by BM, and are completely independent and unbiased. The synopsis of the previous season's results is taken from the public record. All results published on this website can be checked online or in the racing press.

SHOULD THE JUMPS EDITION BE USED UNTIL THE NEXT ONE COMES OUT IN THE AUTUMN?

In reality, the jumps season does not have a clean cut end but merges from one season into the next. Officially the Ernie jumping edition is to be used until the official ending of the jumping season at the end of April. It does not apply to the summer jumping scene, although it may be useful at times. The new edition will come out in time for the first big races of next winter in October.

HOW LONG DOES IT TAKE TO RATE EACH RACE USING THE SYSTEM, ASSUMING THERE ARE A DOZEN RUNNERS?

depending on a) whether you're used to the System and b) how quick-witted you are, anything from 60 seconds to 3 minutes.

SHOULD ERNIE'S ITALIC HORSES BE DISREGARDED IF THEY MOVE STABLE?

Presumably the owner thinks the horse will have a better chance in new surroundings, and since Ernie has selected the horse for its promise, you should stick with the Italic horses whatever stable they run for.

IF TWO HORSES ARE GRADED IN A RACE, WOULD THIS BE A FORECAST/REVERSE FORECAST?

If there are two horses with the same grade a reverse forecast is an excellent idea.

WHAT ARE ERNIE'S FAVOURITE COMBINED BETS?

Ernie is a strong believer in value for money and not giving it to the bookies too easily! His favourite bet is the single win bet, ideally at Tote odds. For small stakes, the Exacta can give decent rewards when they come up. THE TOTE have a wide array of 'exotic' bets available, and they have some excellent offers at present when opening a new account.

As for combined bets,the Lucky 15 is used by many punters and BETFRED offer TREBLE THE ODDS if you have 1 winning selection in your Lucky 15, why not open an account to take advantage? Personally Ernie enjoys the odd Patent ,7 bets covering 3 singles, 3 doubles and a treble. If they are big prices then you are best to stick with the win singles, win doubles and an each-way treble in case one of your bets lets you down.

DOES ERNIE RECOMMEND BETTNG ON THE EXCHANGES?

Yes, indeed he does! The exchanges more than anywhere else are about opinion and putting your money where your mouth is! As Ernie's selections are often different from the other tipsters the prices can be much juicier and prices on the exchanges can be much bigger. BETFAIR are the market leaders, if you have not got an account maybe it's time to give them a try?

WHEN ERNIE RECOMMENDS BACKING STO, SHOULD I ALSO BACK IT SECOND, THIRD, FOUTH TIME OUT, ETC?

If the System says back the horse Second Time Out, then give it your attention only on its second run of the current season.

IF ONE IS GRADE-A AND ONE GRADE-B, WOULD YOU DO A FORECAST OR JUST BET BET ON THE TOP-GRADED HORSE?

Only go for the top-graded Grade-A horse.

I'VE ALWAYS GOT A BIT BOGGED DOWN BY THE NUMBER OF SELECTIONS, AND I PROBABLY BACK AT TOO HIGH A LEVEL FOR MY BANK?

Ernie recommends a limited bank per month to someone in your situation. If for instance you set aside £100 at the start of each month and stake 1/10th of that on your selections you will benefit from good runs, and if there are any bad runs then they are not so expensive. What is important is to keep records of your bets and see which categories of bets are most profitable (ie each ways or straight up, favourites or outsiders, whatever). The latest edition contains a number of new elements, such as which tracks the favourites do best and least well.

WHAT IS UNCLE ERNIE'S AVERAGE STRIKE RATE?

We are often asked about Uncle Ernie's strike rate with a request for the relevant statistics. The problem with this apparently straightforward question is that we would need to analyse every race at every meeting in a year - well over 10,000 races! You will understand Ernie's reluctance to undertake this when he also has to concentrate on things like eating and sleeping and going to the toilet and making a meaningful contribution to society. But what we are happy to offer is this: we will provide free a copy of previous Ernie editions so that you may do the mathematics yourself. We are confident that when you do, the results will justify Ernie's claim to consistently come up with a highly successful, profitable system. Just email the webmaster and let him know whether it is the flat or the jumps or both in which you are interested and we'll send you the relevant download.

THE SYSTEM REFERS TO AGES UP TO 4 YEARS-OLD. WHAT ABOUT OLDER HORSES?

As it says in the introductory preamble to the System, references to 4YOs apply to 4 year-olds and older. In other words, if the recommendation for a 4YO is for as a maximum stake, then this holds true if the horse if 5 years old or more.

SHOULD I BET AT ALL?

Uncle Ernie bets for the satisfaction of beating the bookie. His golden rule is to bet what you can afford to lose. Everything else is profit. Betting on horses is meant to be fun, and it's huge fun when you win. But it's no longer fun when you lose more than you can afford.
